If you're in the mood for genuinely droll high-jinks, be sure to see Incident at Loch Ness, a rib-ticklingly funny mockumentary "starring" German director Werner Herzog (of all people) and co-writer/director/producer Zak Penn (of all people), who make a joint “expedition” to Loch Ness to film what Herzog thinks is going to be a serious documentary examining the myth of Nessie (and our need to believe in supernatural monsters, in general).
The very idea of Herzog (Aguirre, Fitzcarraldo, etc.) teaming up with Penn (screenwriter of such bilious fare as X-Men 2, Fantastic Four, etc.) is hilarious, and both men make the most of it, sending up themselves—at one point, when Herzog complains (justifiably) about the utter mess Penn has made of the maritime shoot on the Loch, Penn replies: "At least we're not dragging the boat over a hill")—mainstream Hollywood movie makers, and "serious" independent film makers.
The movie is currently in rotation on Showtime, so you can see it for "free." Do yourself a favor and don't miss it.
