Hi,
Read your guide with interest- specially regarding Grado GS-1000, but I was disappointed to find that these were the only headphones not rated. I would love to see how they compare to the other units reviewed.
Thanx
Simon
For the Headphone Buyer's Guide we pulled together a wide array of reviews from our various publications, so there was some inevitable inconsistency of treatment. While this is not the GS1000 (which I haven't heard), our recent review of the PS 1000 may help because their is a family resemblance among Grados:
I would add that headphone amps make a difference. We had a Cayin and the Grado amp for the GS1000s, and the Cayin may be a bit too warm for these. Since the Grado amp worked well, and I found the Luxman P200 and PS Audio GCHA to work very well with the PS 1000s, a good linear solid state amp may be ideal. Others with direct experience should comment.
