HDMI out to TV AND Amp at the same time???

DizneyDux -- Mon, 03/03/2008 - 18:51

I'm trying to output my HDMI from my cable box to both my TV and AMP at the same time. I want the option of only using my TV when the kids are asleep (for both audio and video). I don't want to use a clunky switch box that has to be changed each time (either by hand or remote). I want both sources to receive the same signal. I just want to turn off the amp and change the source on the TV and I'm done. Is this possible? What do you guys think the best solution is? Do they make a "Y" cable for this?

Thanks![/i]

The easiest way would be to have a receiver with HDMI switching. The next best way is to hook up the HDMI straight to the TV and a digital coax or optical cable from the "box" to the amp. :D

You can not use a "Y" cable for HDMI. It does not work because of the very high bandwidth and the Copy protection. I tried and it does not work.

What you can do is use a HDMI splitter amp like this one and connect the optical output to your AV receiver . I use it and it works great
