Despite all the great capabilities of HDMI I find the connector SORELY LACKING. It is a loose friction fit that does not "snap" into the HDMI receptacle and there is no means to mechanically fasten it. In installing single gang wall receptacles each with HDMI, component video and ethernet ports the HDMI cable inside the receptacle box got disconnected repeatedly when installing the faceplate to the box. One would think with all the hoopla about HDMI and its capabilities that the designers would have at lease designed a stable connector. This is just my 2 cents worth. Happy New Year to all!
Simply buy better grade cables. This is not a problem with HDMI per se. Some cables have features that make them fit more snugly. I could find you a link to some if you need it
I have to agree that HDMI connectors are a problem in this regard. High-end cables might have better friction, but they also have larger, heavier jackets and moldings around the connectors, which counteracts the better friction. I think VizionWare recently introduced a doohickey that secures HDMI cables; it's designed for custom installers, but I think it would be helpful for anyone using HDMI connections.
