The latest Absolute Sound, January, 2010, p. 72, names the Harbeth HL-P3ES2 Mini-monitor as "Affordable Loudspeaker of the Year." However, on p.25 of tthe same issue there is an ad for the "New!" Harbeth P3ESR Reference mini selling for about the same price as the HL-P3ES2, Apparently, the "Affordable Loudspeaker of the Year" is no longer being made. At least it is no longer mentioned in the Harbeth website. And it was reviewed in TAS less than a year ago. What happened? Or did I misread something?
You are correct that the HL-P3ES3 is discontinued. We kept it as "Affordable Loudpseaker of the Year" because we discovered too late in the process that it was to be discontinued; there's usually a period during which a product is available after it is discontinued; and we had confidence that the new model was only a slight revision of the previous version. Harbeth has a long history of incremental upgrades.
