Hi atulkanagat,
Firewire can indeed do 24/192 and even multiple channels of it.
I'm using a Metric Halo ULN-8 connected to my Mac via Firewire. I can record multiple channels of 24/192 and send them to the Mac via a single Firewire cable, no problem.
I think the Weiss Int202 is an excellent product. I have a Macbook Pro with Amarra, firewire to the Int 202, and dual AES to a dCS Scarlatti DAC. It sounds great.
Barry and Cemil are both correct in that the ULN-8 and Daniel Weiss' VESTA and INT202 have 192 k I/O covered. Other good choices for uncolored D/As are Sonic Studio's Model Three and Model Four, designed for hifi computer music playback in conjunction with their Amarra software. — OMas
In addition to the MH Labs and Weiss products mentioned, Daniel also makes the VESTA FireWire to AES/EBU format converter and Sonic Studio has the Model Three and Model Four for use in conjunction with their Amarra software. All are 192 k-capable.
USB isn't limited to 24/96. There are a few hi-res solutions on the market for USB outs. M2Tech HiFace is one, although I don't think it has the outs you are looking for. High Resolution Technologies is also about to release a hi-res version of their USB streamer.
Last month I borrowed an Audio Research DAC8 for a few days. Unhappily it only had a few hours use and it is difficult to made any conclusion on sound before the break-in period (~600 hours). I used it mainly via the USB port.
ARC supplied a CD with enhanced drivers to allow USB 2.0 jitterless transmission of 24bits / 172 kHz. Installation took 5 minutes in XP and the interface played flawless with MediaMonkey.
I downloaded a few Reference Recording HRx 24/172 demos and some tracks from HD tracks. Great sound, specially considering the unit just taken from the box!

I am looking at the Weiss INT 202, to get hi-res from a Mac (Firewire) to an AES/EBU equipped DAC.
