GamuT D-200i Vs Accuphase A-45 : Give your two cents !

BRsound -- Sun, 01/17/2010 - 17:03

I'm looking for a Stereo amplifier that would really make a difference regarding how I'd listen to music from now on. Searching throughout the internet, I've come up to the conclusion that lots of CURRENT would do the trick.
* I did consider the vacuum tubed McIntosh MC 275, but I thought that would be hard to deal with its tubes.
* I thought about the Ayre Vx-1  and the SIMAUDIO MOON Evolution W-8, too, but they weigh almost 100lbs...

The final two contenders are the Danish GamuT D-200i and the Japanese Accuphase A-45, both are great power guzzlers, mainly the A-45 for being a Class A amplifier...
Looks also counts and the A-45 is something gorgeous to behold with its VU's .The GamuT isn't bad at all either.

My speakers are DALI Helicon 400 and my speaker cables are Analysis Plus Bi-Silver Bi-wire, my preamp is a Parasound HALO JC2.

Please, I do accept your suggestions on this quest for the quality watts that will make music more life-like to my ears.
Thanks !

The accuphase amps are great amps especially the Class A.
The purity of tones, microdynamics is hallmark of their class A designs.
Although a bit low on power, but these amps have huge power reserves in their capacitors.
I have not experienced with the Gamut but i read good things about them as well.
good luck.
