Follow-up on "Six Great-Sounding and Affordable Systems

This TAS article was EXACTLY what a relative neophyte like me needs. Reading magazines like TAS is always interesting, but assembling systems of components that actually work well together is simply beyond my experience.

Of the systems in the article, System 5 was of particular interest to me because I want to build a home stereo/theater solution around the Magneplanar MG 1.6 speakers (and other Magneplanar speakers and an REL subwoofer).

But now the problem, can anyone point me in the right direction for (i) a preamp/processor and (ii) multichannel power amp that will perform at the same level as the Rotel RC-1082 and Vincent Audio SA-331 do for stereo. I'm looking for the same level of musicality, and I'm obviously prepared to pay more to reflect the multichannel characteristics of the products I need.

Any thoughts?
