firmware upgrade sony bdp-s350

I am trying to upgrade my firmware. I don't know how to do it with an ethernet connection so I am trying to use my USB device. I think I downloaded the upgrade to the USB device, but after I plug it in the back of the unit and then go to Network Upgrade, I get a message that states: "Connection status cannot be confirmed. check the following items . .. the power is one, etc."
Anyone have any ideas? Thanks so much.

I looked at the two methods of upgrading my unit (Ethernet vs. USB) and concluded that Ethernet was vastly simpler. In fact, it turned out to be extremely easy. I suggest you take your BDP-S350 to your computer and the upgrade will be done in just a few minutes.
