Hello,
I ask this question because I seem to have many more skipping problems with my latest cartridge (Koetsu Rosewood Platinum) than I did with my last one (Dynavector 20XH). When I say skipping I don't mean the intermittant skip at particular points on the record but skipping at almost any point on the record. I don't have the Dynavector handy to test with and these are used records I bought recently.
Thanks.
What tonearm do you use ?, the compliance of your cart. is 5x10-6cm/dyne the mass is 9grams so you will need a tonearm with a effective mass of at least 27grams.
This why there is a need for high-end stores!
You can go on this site for some info about Arms, cartridge and arm matching if you like.

I have a Rega P5 with (I believe) the RB700 tonearm. I want to emphasize that it is rare to come across the skip, but certain (very few) used albums seem to skip regularly. It's hard for me to tell whether it's the LP or the cartridge. These are used LPs and in not necessarily good shape. Thanks.
The compliance of your cart. is 5x10-6cm/dyne the mass is 9grams, the Rega RB700 effective mass is 11grams so the arm/cart will resonate (bounce around) at 15.9hz (8hz to 10hz best), add some bluetack and 5 cents.
Or save the Koetsu for a Jelco or Ortofon tonearm that have headshells with higher and lower mass.
Thanks very much. Where do I add the bluetack? On top of the headshell?
Yes on top. SME use to make a "black-tack" for the light SME 3009 Inproved tonearm head shell in the old days BTW.
Many thanks for your reply. Sorry for the delay. I will give it a shot.
