Dear JV, regarding ARC top panels options

Dear Mr Valin,
         I'm ordering an ARC preamplifier, and I have to choose between acrylic top or metal top.
Do you have any experience with ARC with acrylic top ? How does it affect sound quality  ? Will it melted where
big 6550 is half an inch under ? I doubt about long term durability.
       And I dont understand why dont ARC use black screws instead of silver screws to secure the
acrylic top.

My Reference 5 has the acrylic top, which ARC claims lowers chassis resonances (compared with the metal top). I can tell you that you need have no fear about the acrylic melting. I cannot confirm any substantial sonic improvement .
