DC Power Issues: Synergistic Research/Moon compatability

A fellow Simaudio Moon owner (P8/W8) had the following issue with W-8 amp:
He has Synergistic Research Apex and Precision Reference active shielded interconnects and after some months in use the left channel on his new W-8 power amp died [Simaudio Moon W8-RS].
Moon said the cables passed DC in to the amp which destroyed part of the circuit, but Synergistic gave them the all clear.
He was wondering if anyone else is aware of a potential compatibility issue of these brands or what else might be causing the problem?
Any ideas?

Just to clarify, the Synergistic interconnects between the cd, pre-amp and amp are the only things with active shielding. Speaker cables are standard (passive) Kimberly Kable. Speakers are(passive) Sonus Faber Amati.
