if you connect a dac to a sacd player ,, it this a bad move and unnecessary all together?
i have a sony sacd player and an old audio alchemy dac in the box.
thanks for any help.
I don't have your answer but Dan Wright at Modwright I'm sure will be helpful. His group will be adding digital inputs to the back of various players (Sony, Oppo). I'll be calling him soon to learn more about this topic as well.
I have made several experiments running the co axial output of $1200 and higher Arcam and Vincent CD player thru the Arcam r-dac and found slight improvements of overall sound quality with no detectable minuses. My goal was to make sure the r-dac was going to improve my 5 disc CD carousel player and add USB input tyo me system. So it depends on how good the SACD player is and how good the DAC is.
Has anyone compared the Marantz SA8004 Superaudio CD with USB DAC $999 to Arcam r-DAC or better DAC?
And how is it as a Thumb drive player?
My experience with the r-DAC is: it improvemes my CD player greatly and is very helpful for internet radio, but I need to download and burn CDs and DVDs in order to have audiophile quality high frequency audio. And the SA8004 is something I can afford as an upgrade and I want to try the tumb drive.
Rhumb drive shoud have zero jitter I believe. it would only pick up inherent jitter issues for the hard drive and related circuitry but the thumb drive itself should induce no jitter itself.
