Couple my Marantz 2270 with a pair of Technics SB-L75?

I have a sweet Marantz 2270 coming to me after a complete professional, refurbish-- I should receive it in about 2-3 weeks.  My question is this:
I have a pair of floor standing, 3-way, 8 ohm, 150 watt Technics SB-L75.  Am I doing myself an injustice marrying this sweet Marantz with these speakers?  And if so, what speakers would you recommend I look for, if I want to spend no more than $500-$600?
If it makes a difference, the Technics are in "like new" condition, but with that said, I'm under new illusions about them-- I know their nothing special.
Sorry if this question appears ignorant, but my knowledge in this field is basic, at best.
Thanks for the advice!!!

 Hi -

Your choices in new speakers from $500-600 are pretty much limited to bookshelf models with little or no bass.  if you want full-range sound at your budget, you'll be shopping the used market.  Depending on the type of sound you like, you can score anything from a pair of Klipsch Cornwalls to a pair of Thiel 1.5s at your budget.  These are pretty much "opposite ends of the spectrum" choices.  The Klipsches are rock-and-roll rough but will play LOUDLY with not too much power.  The Thiels sing with refined and heavenly voices, but will reveal any shortcomings on your sources and amplification and won't play anywhere nearly as loudly as the Klipsches.

Were I you, I'd cruise my local CraigsList and see what you can find.  Buying at already "fully discounted" price lets you buy & try a variety of speakers.  Those you don't like, you can turn around and sell for what you paid.  No loss but your time & effort.

Happy Shopping!

I have a pair of Technics SB-L75 with a Nec AUA 4000 integrated  amplifier (40 w/ch/rms) for stereo listening and I am very happy with the sound.
