connecting up tv dvd av amp and shy hd

Hi,
could anyone show me the best way to connect up the following components
pioneer 506 XDE tv has hdmi
pioneer540HX dvd has no hdmi
pioneer AV4 receiver has hdmi and a sky hd box

have had this connected up by a company but an convinced its not totally correct they just seem to do it the easiest way possible there are so many connections on these items but not sure what ones to use have been it touch with pioneer but they are useless dont answer emails
Any help would be appreciated

Hello,

I would use an HDMI between the Receiver and the TV.

I would use component between the DVD player and the Receiver.

If the reciever can't transcode from component to HDMI you will need a device that can.

What is a sky HD box?

The HDMI of my el-chipo 42'' LCD tv can take 720p only. So I have to use VGA (analog) hi-freq cable to connect it to computer. The same goes for the projector I have (HDMI @ 720p only, VGA - 1080i).
