Cartridges for SME 3009S2 improved?

Hello,

I have a Thorens TD-125 that was given to me recently. It has an SME 3009S2 improved tonearm. It also came with a NOS Signet MR5.0lc cartridge. What is reccomended for this setup for $600.00 or less. I would prefer either MM or high output MC. Thanks.

The SME is a fine Mid mass arm , I used bronze bearing on it as well as extra weight that came with a Denon DL160 , this put mass and resonance in right target area.
I like the cartridge enough to buy a second .
Tracks well and has very good sound at price ...about $200.

I used to own exactly the same setup when in high school and then i did the mistake of selling it to get a Linn Sondek.The Sondek was good but could drive a sane person nutz ! lol Anyway,a cheap mm cartridge that works wonders with the Thorens/sme combination is the Shure M97XE.

Grado makes some very nice moving magnet cartridges in that price range.
