maybe the wrong forum but I consider this as the worst part of system building.
What are the thought out there on the subject of using only one make of cable?
For example, the dealer I trust would support this idea and I am thinking of going along with this. I would favour something like Audience 'maestro' as the reviews seem excellent for the investment.

Good Day- cables are not the worst part of system building, but certainly are the most challenging. If you have a dealer you trust, then start there with the brand(s) his shop carries.
Cables can take on different tastes/textures with a person's gear. They fascinate me because the characteristics can be subtle or not so subtle. Also, the relationship between price points can make quite a diference. Keep auditioning until you find the cables that are right for your gear.
Keep in mind that sometimes the plugging and unplugging of cables from your equipment can scape away oxidization from contact points permitting better transmission of the signal. To avoid mistaking the benefit of such inadvertent 'cleaning' thoroughly clean all contacts on your old equipment and cables before auditioning new ones. Consider also the possibility of learning to solder and make your own cables. Taking this approach can save you a fortune and, if you're careful and ask the right questions in the right places (here?), produce cables & interconnects that equal and sometimes exceed the performance of ultra expensive ones.
Just moving a cable or bending it can affect the sound. The sound you hear just after you plug a new cable in may not be how it will sound after some time has past even if it is already broken in. If you find a brand you like read their web site for ideas on how best to use their product Cardas has a good web site with a lot of info. The above posts are good advise IMO. Good luck

I have a Roksan Dp1 and have been using a Sony Mini Disc as a DAC with an optic connection
I like the results , deep basse from the roksan and warmth from the sony ...but i never bothered to change the optical cable that came in with the Mini Disc . I do have good Van Den Hull and Straightwire interconnets . Well I just bought a Supra optic cable and I can' t stop listening my cds
i m amazed with such dramatic improvement . The notes of the instruments ring forever .
