Cable dilemma....

dyeraudio -- Sat, 04/12/2008 - 21:49

Cannot decide which speaker cable to get. PS Audio single wire or PS Audio Bi-Wire. I run only 1 amp. Passive LINN Keilidh speakers with jumpers. Thoughts please on bi-wiring.......

Do you know the internal cable configuration of the PS Audio product? I have seen some bi-wire configurations that a basically the monowire config split in half. For your setup, I can't imagine any benefit to that.

Here.... they are the "plus" model

Since the Plus is clearly monowire, I assume you are consider the Plus vs the Statement bi-wire?

If so, the Statement bi-wire will clearly be more expensive. If that doesn't matter to you, bi-wiring can't hurt, and PS at least has a logical explanation for doing it (at 8 gauge, the Plus is plenty low resistance assuming your cables will be fairly short).

What is the rest of the system? This impacts whether spending the money on killer cables is a reasonable choice.

My system is all Carver...A CT-23 pre-amp, a TFM-45 amp at 380 wpc and a SD/a 490t Vacuum Tube cd player. LINN Keilidh speakers. NAIM speaker cable and Kimber Kable interconnects.

A few more questions:

1. How long will the speaker cables be?

2. What is the price difference between Plus and Bi-Wire?
