We all know how to put a cd in the new player and press repeat and visit the player after minimum 100 hours...but here is my question...do we also need to turn the pre amp on while doing this or just the cd player on repeat is enough~? thanks
I have the preamp off when burning a CD player. Since I use tubed preamps, it's a bit of a no-brainer, but I don't think having the preamp has any effect.
Some Cables, such as Cardas, do need some "burn in" and regular use to sound optimal.
I suspect that merely leaving your preamp on for a few hours just before listening will be enough to "wake up" the connection for optimum critical listening.

I recommend putting signal through all new cables before critical listening.
If you are just burning in a new CD player, it's not necessary to turn on the preamplifier.

It all depends on your cables.
