Burmester 069

It amazes me that such an expensive CD player is only a CD platyer. It does not play SACD. For all these years Burmester is not able to come up with an SACD player - is there something we are missing ?

The Wolfson DAC supports DSD (which Burmester uses) and yet Burmester is still not able to master delivery on SACD format.

I am skeptical in Burmester reply saying that all components is upgradable and upgrading CD to SACD is not exactly an upgrade one would expect.

I hear many stories why Burmester is not able or not willing to produce a SACD player but perhaps TAS can really poke and find the real reason why ?

Personally, I didn't believe to the "legend" of sacd format. I think that the cd player Burmester 069 demonstrated to sound much better that any cd/sacd player presently in the world market today.

Anyone who pays $25000 for a CD player  has more money than commonsense

I would suggest each of you, everyone for that matter, to listen to the whole set of Burmester 069, 808 MK5 pre-amp, B100 speakers, and 909 Amp. I had a chance to audition it in Taiwan at an audio show.
Let me just tell you. . . I was speechless.
I took 3 friends to the show, 2 of them are audiophile novice. . . They were just in awe. They didn't want to leave the room. Keep in mind that this audio show has all the best audio equipment. The latest FM Focal's Grand Utopia EM where first unveiled at this show,  the whole set of MBL's top equipment together with 101 X-treme speakers, and pretty much everything is this price level. . .
Everyone was just in awe of the Burmester system. Trust me. . . it sounds better then every other system with either Esoteric's top SACD player or any SACD model from dCs.
I have Burmester 911, 061 CD player. . . and the combo I heard the the audio show is just. . . light years better!
