Brinkmann vs. SME 30/12

Does anyone have much time on hearing the 30/12 or even 20/12 for that matter vs. the Brinkmann (with Breur 10.5 arm).  i have only heard the latter with the airtight (not the supreme) on it.  i am leaning towards this option but am now curious about the new SME line.  I am very impressed with the Brinkmann but found one complaint - namely, someone said in a review it is hard to get the Brinkman to mis-behave, e.g. old rock or electronic it still presents the music in 'proper setting' and some of this old rock isn't meant to be proper, would be curious to hear anyone's opinion on the SME

What seems missing in some evaluations/assesments of this high-end equipment is long term design and durability. I have now been using sme 30 decks for about 13 years and they keep their appearance and reliability. What is more, SME is likely to be around to service the deck in 20 years time. They have a quite superb service department (you can get next-day service on something is basic as an allen key.)  Virtrually all other turntable manufacturers are ''one man and a dog''  operations. Which is rather nice, and leads to brilliant designs, but long term stability...I doubt it.

Good point. I owned a Linn LP12 from 1981 until a couple of years ago. At one point, in the mid-90s, I needed new hinges for the lid as it wouldn't stay open anymore (the springs got weak). I wrote to Linn asking if they could deliver a pair of hinges and how much, as there was no local dealer. They sent me a box of goodies with the hinges, new suspension springs, belt, bearing oil, grommets, a setup manual and a nice letter wishing me another happy 15 years or so with my LP-12. They didn't ask a penny for any of it. That was the best customer service I have ever seen.
Indeed, I am sure SME will also be around in many years to come.

Zeb and Anomymous,
i agree with you, but i would believe that Brinkmann and SME (mabye SME moreso) have been and will be around for some time to come.  I agree on some of the new tables, which may be georgous but haven't proven their ability to service.  Anyway, i appreciate the valuable input on SME, i think highly of them as a company.
