Blu-Ray High Definition Audio playback in the context of a High Definition Audio Music Server

I am planning to build a High Definition Audio Music Server, capable of playing back HRx as well as CDs. In building this music server, I plan on using an outboard DAC, most likely with a build-in Preamp, perhaps like the Berkeley Audio Design DAC.
First, is the preamp build into the Berkeley Audio Design DAC digital or analog? (This is really a side question.) According to the latest issue of Absolute Sound, it says the preamp is analog. However, on Berkeley Audio Design, their specification says it has digital attentuation. Is the website out of date?
Assuming that the preamp is analog on the Berkeley Audio Design Alpha DAC, I plan on using the build-in preamp and don't really want to get a preamp just so I can watch movies. Is this possible? Are there software that would decode Blu-Ray's High Definition audio and output it through the AES/EBU?
And if there are no software that can do this on the computer, then are there any Blu-Ray Player that could output their High Definition Audio through their digital output?
