Best LCD out there?

-- Tue, 02/03/2009 - 12:34

By now there are so many to choose from, and I am lost! I know I want to go with an LCD because i have a ton of windows in my living room, so a lot of natural light comes through.  I've been looking at the Hitachi UltraThin Series, specifically the 42 inch.  I hear it has a really nice gloss finish and a pretty sharp picture.  Has anyone seen or does anyone own this LCD?  Some advice would be great as I'm itching to buy soon...

Samsung or Sony for LCD. Nothing beat Sony's XBR8 in LCDs.  If you have the room the 70"XBR7 is a great LCD too. Toshiba is not in the same league in LCDs as Sony and Samsung.

I have to agree with Sheepherder.  I bought the 42" Toshiba and sent it back the same day!  No comparison to the Sony!

My vote is for the Samsung LN52-A650. To my eyes the picture is every bit as good as the Sony XBR series, but for less money.

I chose two Samsung's (LN52A650 and an LN55B640) after lots and lots of reading and evaluating.  The Sony's are great, as are the Samsung LED units, but they cost considerably more.  For the money, the upper-end Sammy's are the way to go.

ditto - sony and samsung are in league by themselves right now _BUT look at the new Vizios as well - great value and  a great picture

Read the fine print in Vizio's warranty. Good luck trying to get one repaired locally and having parts shipped to your local repair shop once the TV is out of warranty.

Why do so many Sony LCD sets have a pink tinge ?? they sure do here in New Zealand, they stand out well in the crowd, that is if you like PINK!
