In trying to detemine the length of speaker cables needed between the amp and the speakers, I was thinking about the fact that the Quad 2805s are not sidewall sensitive. As such, as opposed to moving the amp on it's stand back 3' - 4' in between the speakers, the best position will be parallel to the quads in the middle of the speakers. For reference, the amp is Mac MC2102 on a Sound Anchor stand.
Thoughts?
Generally, your lateral placement approach makes sense to me (and it the one I use):
lateral placement shortens speaker cable length, which leads to tighter bass
reflections off the amps are not returned to the listener directly (which is more likely when placed farther back)
