Been buying a new TV for 6 months now

So here's the deal. I am getting ready to close on a new house right before Christmas, so of course I want a new TV to go along with it, since I've been watching the same 27" CRT for the past 8 years. I am ready to move into the 21st century and I think I have narrowed my choices down to 2, both of which have been editor's picks for 2006, the Vizio P50HDTV and the JVC 56FH97. The TV is going in the family room, which is about 15' X 20', and it opens up to the kitchen and there are windows, so there will be a pretty good amount of ambient light. I don't plan to buy an HD DVD or BD DVD player any time soon. The majority of TV watching is done through a cable box, although when we get in the new house we will be subscribing to FiOS TV HD service.

I would really appreciate any advice that you guys may have for me in deciding which TV to purchase.

Thanks in advance.
P.S. What is the difference between the JVC 56FH97 & the 56FN97?

I did the saame thing, bought the house and then spruced it up with a new TV. I bought a Sony A2000 and love it. My family room has a huge amount of light so I wanted a RPTV for brightness and size (although an LCD may be better for light, a 55 in was too expensive.) Anyway, I chose the sony b/c it did not go to all squares like the JvC models. I am not a JVC fan, no opinion on Vizio

Thanks for the input sloggy420.
But I was wondering if Scott Wilkinson or any of the other tech reviewers had any opinions on my original post. I know you guys are busy writing a magazine, but I would really appreciate your input.
