I currently use a Pioneer v457. Will upgrade shortly, narrowed down to Denon AVR1906, Onkyo TX SR603X, Yamaha RX v659, and Harman AVR 340. First 3 are in the same price range, the Harmon is $150 more than the others. How to pick from the first 3, is the Harman worth the extra?
Thanks
Does the Harman offer any features or benefits that make it worth more than the others? Such as more inputs, HDMI switching, a phono pre-amp, Zone 2 and Zone 3 operation, etc.? Is it easier to use?

No, the Harman has a few less features, like no b speakers. You can use the back surround for another room if you don't need back surround. I have 5.1 system so don't need the back surround. I guess I have left Harman in the running even though they are quite a bit more because of the famous Harman quality and sound. Their speaker/room equalization setup sounds good, although all I'm looking at claim to have that.

The Yamaha RX-V659 will be reviewed in the TPV issue 70.
It differs from its predecessor, the award-winning RX-V657, primarily in that it offers a built-in phonostage and a connection port for an optional iPod dock.
Having heard both the RX-V657 and now the RX-V659, I'd say the new model is perhaps marginally less transparent than the old model, but both are good, and feature the Yamaha's traditional house sound: Smooth highs, natural midrange, and hearty bass.
My suspicion is that the HK might offer greater sonic transparency, but listening to the two side-by-side is the only way to know for sure.
I have less hands on experience with the Denon and Onkyo offerings you mentioned, and so won't venture an opinion on them at this time.
