audio set up

I have a recently upgraded my system to a McIntosh MA2275 amp and a pair of B&W 803 D speakers, B&W 8SW750. The tech that set up my system used my old Denon PVR 2000 as a pre-amp. He connected the Denon to the Mc from the tape out on the Denon to the CD inputs on the Mc. This allows me to also use the Denon to drive two pair of outside speakers as well. I'm not very proficient in connections and wanted to know if this was the best way to set up my system? I also a Sony DVP S999ES, Samsung DLP, and XM radio connected to the Denon that goes through the Mc.

For primary two channel audio quality, this almost certainly isn't the best set up. If your CD player is connected to the Denon and the to the McIntosh integrated amp, you are probably running the signal through two preamps which is unecessary and adds distortion to the signal. Of course, if you love the sound, then why worry?

But if you don't love it, I would consider getting a second CD player for two channel audio use and hooking it up to another input on the McIntosh. Heck, you can get really good CD players starting at $149, so compared with what you've already spent, you won't be breaking the bank.
