Has anyone been using Audio Research VS 115 stereo amp (120wpc) to drive Magnepan 1.6 QR's -- or Maggie's new 1.7's? The Maggies like power. Would the VS 115 be up to the job? I'm also considering Vincent Audio's SP-T800 hybrid monoblocks (320 watts each into 4 ohms). Any comments or recommendations?
JV has promised us a listen with the VS-115, so wait and see. Do you want to play loud, or do you want high resolution?
Sunday ~ I don't listen LOUD but I like to have a solo guitar or piano feel like it's in the room.

I just got the VS115 today. I'll hook it up soon and tell you how well it works with the 1.7s.
Hi, Jonathan ~ I am SO looking forward to your comments. I listen to small-group jazz and vocals (Christian McBride, Joshua Redman, Oscar Peterson, Manhattan Transfer, Bobby McFerrin); also to classical music, often piano concertos. My room is 19 x 12 x 8-foot ceiling; presently driving 1.6s with Ayre V-5Xe 300 wpc into 4 ohms -- new 1.7s arriving next week! I'm nourished by the details and microdynamics but I also thrill to the weight of a piano and the pluck of a guitarist's pick. I'm wondering if VS-115 will make more magic, or is this a grass-is-greener problem?

This is a test reply to see if this one gets immediately flagged as spam like my attempts to reply last night did.
Hmmm ... odd. This one went right through as it should have.
Hello. I wonder if this one will be passed through by their spam filters.
Richard, so far you have made three posts to this thread wondering if your posts will be "passed through their spam filters." All three of your posts have made it through okay. You're taking up space with things that have nothing to do with Audio, amplifiers, speakers, etc. If you have something to offer about the topic -- in this case, driving Maggie 1.7s with ARC VS-115 amps -- please share it with us. If not, please stop cluttering up the forum.

Surf around, there have been many problems with the spam filter!
Hello Mr. McDonald:
I tried to post my comment above three times and it got blocked as spam each time. I see that it finally got passed after I reported it to admin three times. I never had, do not have, and never will have ... any desire or intent to clutter up any of these forums. If their spam filters had been working properly in the first place ... my comments / replies above would have been posted the first time and there would not have been any clutter since it would have been only one reply. It is proof that I tried three times as there are basically three of the same replies from me. That is not my fault. Perhaps two of them could, or should, be deleted now that they have finally all gone through. I would be fine with that regardless of which two they end up being.
Perhaps the author of this post will now see that I have made three attempts to do something that will hopefully help him. That, to me, is part of what we are here to do: help one another.
