Archiving vinyl to digital format

Don't know where to ask this question..... but am looking for CURRENT info on best A/D converters and information on converting vinyl to a Mac-based music system.

All the info I am finding on the interweb is decidedly mid-fi/low-fi, and since I have invested time and money in a decent analog playback system, I am wondering if this can music can be digitized,

It can be done, but your results will vary. Whatever you do, chose a lossless or uncompressed codec. In other words, STAY AWAY FROM MP3!

You could use your computer's line in and use whatever recording software you want to; in this case use your preamp's tape out sockets.

Steven Stone is working on a comprehensive guide to archiving LPs to digital. This won't be a review of a product or two, but a complete treatment of this increasingly important topic.

Robert, will Steve be including Apogee Duet in his report? A lot of us are Mac users & I heard that it syncs flawlessly with GarageBand software. Thanks.
