Yes. The sound was significantly improved with a Van den hul cable (normalized the bloated bass) and an audioquest mat that made it necessary to tighten the suspension to keep the platter from bottoming against the base.
That's a cool vintage rig! Speaking of mats, I've had great success with the Funk Firm Achromat (Rega P9) and wanted to mention it in case you get the itch to try something different down the road.
scott thanks for the reply what i have for cartridges is a sumiko oyster and a grado red that i am using now, the sorbothaine mat i bought back in the 80s is still good i also had a piece of stone cut for a base with some isolation spikes from parts express, the older cartridges i miss are the denons 160 and 110 and a aq (forgote the model)does anyone else have a favorite cartridge in that same price range thanks tim
