Amplifiers

To Paul Seydor: I have enjoyed many of your reviews, and as a owner of a pair of Quad 2805s I have been curious about the following. I have read that until you purchased your new solid state McIntosh gear that you used tube amps/preamps extensively. While I did read that you picked the solid state gear so that you could be more familiar with the new generation solid state gear, I have been curious if, as a reviewer, you chose the solid state gear for it's greater power which allows that amp/preamp to be matched with a greater number of speakers? Given that the Quads that you are fond of use only about 90 or so watts at peak, would a reference tube amp of only a 100 watts or so be to limiting for a reviewer?
