Advice from the beginning needed for buying a home audio system

I'm currently trying to purchase a soundsytem for my house (I'm more than happy to buy it in parts, e.g. speakers separetley to the sub and so on, I'm not bothered about the ease of buying a complete set-up) but I'm finding it very hard to find out what exactly I should be looking for. I'm wanting to learn a lot about speakers, subs, amps etc... before I buy anything because I don't want to spend a lot of money on a something that ends up not giving me what I want.
What I am looking for is a system that can delevier full and loud bass sounds (geared specifically for heavy dub, dubstep, dnb, ragga), along side obviously good mid and high range sounds as well. I want the system to play music from my laptop, and quite possibly in the future some decks. I'm hoping to spend around two hundered pounds on the whole set up, so I'm not expecting anything exceptional, but I've been told that it should be enough to get something that will be good enough for home use. So any information on what it is that I want to look out for in the equipment I look at would be much appreciated. And a few suggestions of brands etc would be nice as well.
I know there's quite a lot of information I'm looking for, so any magazines and websites that might be helpfull would be good as well.
Cheers Rob
