5.1 System Rear speaker set up

-- Tue, 12/23/2008 - 13:56

I have normal point source speakers (not bi-pole or di-pole) for the rear channels in my 5.1 set up.
1- Should speakers of this type still be mounted behind the listening area?  If so how far (or what angle)?
2- These are wall mount speakers.  If mounted behind seating area, do they need to be angled towards seating area?
Thanks!

When I use direct radiating speakers I like to have them at least as far behind me as the front speakers are in front of me.

I also like to put them within 1 1/2 feet of the ceiling so I'll get some ceiling bounce and spread.

I do cant mine in about the same amount as I would front speakers.

If the speakers are "wall mount" make sure the wall mount is both secure and doesn't buzz when the speakers are played at normal or above listening levels.
