47"WESTINGHOUSE LCD

I just purchased a westinghouse LVM-47w1 47" LCD monitor. I need to know what DPMS in the general settings field of the set up menu means, and what it is for. Also i would like to know what the "backlight" setting is, in the picture parameters field of the set up menu. This monitor was reveiwed in the december 2006 issue of TPV. thank you, joe.
