Hello
What is the better soundcard with 24bit/192 capacity in order to play with RR's new HDx disc on my G4 Powerbook. Thanks in advance.
Best
Herman

I think you are talking about HRx discs, correct? They are 24 bit/176.4 khz. I have not tried this, but it is clear from RRs site and other material that getting bit perfect audio can take some experimentation. RR has tried using a RME Fireface 400 to go from a MacBook firewire port to SPDIF. From there you can use any DAC with SPDIF inputs. RR notes that the jitter spec on the Fireface is not great, so you may wish to use a DAC like the Benchmark that is relatively immune to jitter. Benchmark also has some useful information on software configuration.
Do you need this to be portable?
Hope that helps.
Thanks Tom
I don;t need to be portable. I am using the Mac as my music server and connecting to my Stello DA100 via USB for the time being and thinking to upgrade to a better DAC in the future and able to play with RR new HRx disc will be one of the consideration. Will definitely check out Benchmark web site. Appreciated
