I have an LN52A650 with 120hz and am having a hard time getting the 120hz to stick. I altered the Picture Settings to place the Auto Motion Plus 120Hz on either "LOW, MED, or HIGH" but no matter what I do, it still says 60Hz on the screen display of the TV with it activated.
Should this display read 120Hz and not 60Hz or should it read 60Hz.
I just registered, this thread comes from me.
Scratch that, I found the answer once Samsung's support site decided to respond.
Why Does the Info Screen on My New 120Hz TV Show 60Hz Even After I Turn On Auto Motion Plus?
The Info screen

on your TV displays the resolution and frequency (Hz) of the incoming signal, but not the frequency the TV is generating for the image it is displaying.
In the chart above, note that all the incoming signals have a frequency of 60Hz. Even when the Auto Motion Plus(120Hz) feature is on, the Info screen still displays 60Hz. Never-the-less, if you have turned on Auto Motion Plus, your TV is displaying a picture at a frequency of 120Hz.
Note: The only time the Info Screen displays a different frequency is when it is receiving a 1080p signal at 24 frames per second (FPS).
My info screen reads 720 x 480 @ 60Hz but I have a 120 Hz 1080p tv? Understand the frequency part but what about the resolution?
Bf,
What are you watching? Blu Ray, Cable, Satellite. Blu Ray and Fios are typically the only ones that really display true Hd with all the pixels.
Check you settings on your Blu Ray player and cable box first and make sure your are displaying 1080.

Even if you are using a Blu-Ray player, you might need to specify the display resolution. Most have an auto setting that should be able to find the highest possible, but you never know.
Also, and I am not 100pct sure on that, but I think you have to use HDMI to display 1080p. Component connections generally gets you to 720.
THANK YOU very much for posting this question! I was wondering the very same thing but didn't know where to find an answer. Now I just need to find out why it won't let me use a PC with the PC input....
