| AT&T Taking IPTV Prime Time | Sonus Faber's Elipsa Trumps Older Strad Model | Walletex: MP3 Player Small as Two Credit Cards |
Manufacturers must believe that by the third day of the show, everyone has shown up. That's why they announce so many of the best products all in one day. Here are some highlights.
AT&T debuted a new service that integrate Internet content with TV broadcasts. Called U-verse, this IPTV service lets you view, record, and DVR content from the Web, HDTV and broadcast TV, all through a set-top and your television. Because it throws a Web connection in there, you can also schedule recordings remotely via the Internet. Running late for work? Log on and have U-verse record Entertainment Tonight, and it will be ready when you get home. Or have it record up to four standard def broadcasts simultaneously. Wow.
We were also wowed by Moxi, which debuted its Digeo DVR and its killer app - the user interface. We expect lots of folks will start copying this one.
CES attendees buzzing through the sumptuous suites at the Venetian were aflutter over the sound coming from Suniko's $20k Sonus Faber Elipsa speakers, mostly because it seemed even more impressive than its predecessor, which costs twice as much.
And in the world of fun, cheap, fast little things, we saw an MP3 player the size of two credit cards stacked called the Walletex . Us being in Texas, (note the "tex" in the name) we first thought this was going to be enormous, but after seeing it, we expect this diminutive number to show up in our stockings next year.
