CEDIA Expo 2006 Coverage

CEDIA Expo 2006

Day 0: Wednesday, September 13

The CEDIA hasn't begun yet officially, yet the town of Denver is abuzz with press conferences and rumors of major announcements.

Sony HDTV Bombshell?

The most anticipated product introduction at the show has to be the rumored $5500 1920x1080 SXRD front projector from Sony. If Sony does in fact announce a three-chip, full-HD resolution projector for under $6k, it will dramatically change the front-projector market just as $15k-$20k single-chip 1920x1080 DLP projectors are being launched at this show. We know for sure that JVC will announce a 1920x1080 three-chip HD-ILA projector for "under $7000," so the rumor about the Sony just might be confirmed. Video Editor Scott Wilkinson will have an update on the Sony announcement later today.

New Audio/Video Receiver Features Expand Home-Entertainment Options

The audio/video receiver is quickly becoming the integration hub of your entire media system. This changing landscape is reflected in the wholesale changes in AVR connectivity and capabilities. No longer just a surround-sound decoder and source switcher, the new AVRs introduced at this CEDIA sport a whole host of innovative and exciting new features.
