Please Contribute to Japanese Relief Funds

I know this isn't the most appropriate forum in which to say this, but I feel that someone from the TAS community needs to urge our readers to pledge money to Japanese earthquake and tsunami relief. I myself have made a contribution to the American Red Cross at american.redcross.org/site/PageServer, and I strongly encourage fellow audiophiles to do the same within their means.

It would be the right thing to do under any circumstances, but given the role that Japanese manufacturers, small and large, have played in our hobby it is incumbent on us. Pledge a few dollars that are slated to go to a CD or an LP or even an issue of TAS. It's the right thing to do.

An excellent suggestion, Johnathan, I guess the new power conditioner can wait,

Done already.  I wish I could give more.
Interesting in that in my own system of the 9 components in my racks (not including speakers or subs) 7 of them are made in Japan.
Where would we be without them?
God Bless them in this time of need.

Second that Jon. Who among us has not at one time owned a Sony component? I can count at least 6 over the years. How about cars? Make that another half dozen. And let's not forget phono cartridges... Oh Mama! The Japanese have been leaders in quality and innovation for five decades. It's a culture of excellence and fierce competitive spirit and yet, the top designers still manage to put a very personal touch into their products. My component racks are full of products from Japan so your call to action makes good sense to me. It honors their culture.

I wouldn't even think of this in an audio context.  This is a humanity thing. Anyone who doesn't realize that is in sad shape.
It'sironic and horrible that Japan, the only country  on the planet to have had TWO nuclear bombs dropped on them, are  suffering thru nuclear  devices again.

We should all contribute for humanitarian reasons. I heard that contributions are really lagging vs. other recent dissasters (e.g. Haiti, Katrina).  JV's suggestion about a contribution to the Red Cross is a great one!

 Seriously, Jim?!?! That's very saddening.
I wonder what part of this is due to Japan's bombing of Pearl Harbor 65 years ago. Man is slow to forget the past, although he thinks otherwise.

Also please look up "Japanese War Crimes" in the Wikipedia, too numerous to list but horrifying. Even the Peace Prize President might use a powerful weapon of war upon perpetratoirs.
