According to a company press release, Microsoft is introducing two new Zune portable media player models in addition to offering a free software and firmware update that will allow users to tag and purchase songs directly from the player’s built-in FM radio as well as wirelessly access the Zune Marketplace Online store.
The release adds that Microsoft is expanding the Zune series with 16GB and 120GB models costing $200 and $250 respectively, according to Reuters. In addition, Microsoft is introducing two new color schemes, blue on silver and black on black. The line already includes 4GB, 8GB, and 80GB models.
The release continues by saying that the software update includes a music recommendation function that utilizes an algorithm to suggest music similar to what the user is already listening to.
Zune’s new PC software will be available starting Sept. 16 as a free download at www.zune.net.
