VTech Unveils First Internet Radio

According to a company press release, VTech Communications, best known for manufacturing telephones, is entering the home audio market with its IS9181 “wi-fi music streaming device” featuring Internet radio and a $200 price tag.

The release continues by saying that the IS9181 connects to a wireless home network (802.11 b & g) to provide access to more than 11,000 free international Internet radio stations and stream audio files from a home computer. The device also has an auxiliary input so users can connect MP3 or CD players. The device incorporates integrated class D amplifiers, front-facing tuned stereo speakers and a subwoofer.
