Torus AVR-series Power Conditioners Provide Automatic Voltage Regulation

Peterborough, Ontario-based Torus Power has announced a family of six new power conditioners that introduce AVR (or Automatic Voltage Regulation) technologies, while preserving desirable core features and functions introduced in earlier-generation Torus conditioners. New models include:

•    RM10 AVR  – 10 Amp (2 rack height)
•    RM15 AVR  – 15Amp (3 rack height)
•    RM20 AVR  –  20 Amp (required dedicated 20A outlet) (3 rack height)
•    RM20 BAL AVR – 20Amp (requires dedicated 240V balanced input and 20A) (3 rack height)
•    RM45 BAL AVR (4 rack height)
•    RM60 BAL AVR (4 rack height)

Among the core features included in all Torus conditioners, says a company release, are:

•    Ultra clean power,
•    Complete isolation from the outside power grid, and
•    Series-mode surge suppression.

But according to a company release, the new AVR models go much further, adding:

•    The ability to “maintain optimal voltage (115 to 125 V at 60Hz) and current” so that “amplifiers can provide their full rated power regardless of variations in input voltage,”
•    A display that allows the conditioner to show “input voltage, output voltage, and output current,”
•    12V trigger inputs and outputs, and
•    An Ethernet interface that allows users to monitor AVR-series conditioners and turn them on or off from “any internet-connected computer.”

Worldwide distribution for Torus Power is handled through the Canadian audio equipment manufacturer, Bryston, Ltd.
