Up in the Air: It’s a Bird, It’s a Plane . . . It’s Atlantic Technology’s New Surround Speaker

OK, a bit of a stretch for a punchy headline, but Atlantic Technology does aim high with its new surround speaker, the Atlantic Technology 1400 SR-z. The speaker is a dipole/bipole selectable surround speaker with a compact size and profile (rougly 12x5x8 inches, WxHxD), which makes the speaker ideal for use in a Dolby Pro Logic IIz setup as the “surround” channels, placed up high for the best effect..

The speaker, which has a black satin finish and an MSRP of $425/pr, uses a pair of full-range polymer-treated cone drivers to deliver its soundfield. The 3.5-inch drivers use Atlantic’s High Frequency Assistive Radiator (HFAR) technology.
