According to a company press release, Peabody, MA loudspeaker manufacturer Snell Acoustics is introducing the Phantom. The Phantom is designed by Joe D’Appolito and shares its high-end pedigree with the company’s flagship Illusion speaker.
The release continues by saying that the Phantom features a D’Appolito array consisting of a 1-inch SEAS XL silk dome tweeter flanked by two 4.5-inch machined XL magnesium midrange drivers. The Phantom also features two 8-inch aluminum woofers. The Phantom’s discrete crossover boards for bass, midrange, and treble reduce distortion and allow for triamp, biamp, and single amp connectivity.
The release notes that, like its larger and more expensive sibling, the Phantom has a unique asymmetrical, tapered enclosure that provides a unique and imposing aesthetic as well as sonic benefits. The Phantom is finished in high-gloss black and a multi-coat, hand-rubbed clear lacquer. Custom finishes are also available.
Pricing: $20,000/pair
