Sound Bars are gaining popularity among home theater enthusiasts who want a minimalist approach to speakers and cables. The technology can be quite amazing, with one speaker, typically placed on a wall below a flat panel, providing center channel, left and right front, and virtual surround sound. At CES, well-known audio manufacturer Sherwood America showcased its first Sound Bar system, the SB-4221I.
Sherwood’s Sound Bar provides TV, DVD, and MP3 audio inputs and includes an iPod charging dock with video and S-video outputs. Going beyond what many such systems offer, the SB-4221I also includes an FM stereo radio. The Sound Bar can be operated with a touch control or a remote. It has dual 2.75-inch drivers, driven by a 15wpc amp, and two 4-inch subwoofers, driven by a 20 watt RMS amplifier.
The Sherwood Sound Bar will be available during the first quarter of 2009 at an MSRP of $160. For more information, go to http://www.sherwoodamerica.com.
