Samsung Introduces Blu-ray Home Theater Systems

According to a company press release, Samsung is introducing two new Blu-ray HTiB (Home Theater in a Box) systems—the HT-BD8200 5.1-channel soundbar and the HT-BD7200 2.1-channel system.

The release continues by saying that the HT-BD8200 is the first soundbar system equipped with a built-in Blu-ray player. The system is wall-mountable, provides virtual 5.1-channel surround sound, and incorporates a wireless subwoofer.  The HT-BD8200 is only 2.6 inches deep and features Samsung’s signature Touch of Color design for an attractive and unique look.  The system has a USB port and supports Bluetooth connectivity, providing seamless operation with media players, mobile phones, or digital cameras. The HT-BD8200 also has an iPod dock and is equipped with wireless networking so it can access Netflix or Pandora for instant streaming.

The release says that the HT-BD7200 system features a 400-watt amplifier with an integrated Blu-ray player and, like the HT-BD8200, delivers virtual 5.1-channel surround sound. Interestingly, the release says that the speaker cones are made of kelp. The system incorporates a wireless subwoofer and features the Touch of Color design.

Prices have yet to be announced.
