OWC Launches Affordable 'Superdrives' for MacBook Pros

Other World Computing, a third-party manufacturer of products for Macs and PCs, has released two new optical drive upgrade kits for 17-inch MacPro notebook computers. The OWC Mercury SuperDrive Dual-Layer Internal Drive Kits provide faster read/write times for DVDs and CDs.

The $90 kit features burn speeds up to 8X for DVD-R, 6X for DVD-DL, 5X for DVD-RAM, and 24X for CDs.

The $105 kit adds 10 pieces of 8X DVD-R media in a jewel case, back-up software, and NTI DragonBurn CD/DVD authoring software.
