It was great meeting you today for the first time, Robert. I was especially impressed with the Spectral electronics in the Focal Utopia room. This was my first visit to Overture and was very impressed. Enjoying the five Shunyata Venom 3 cables I picked up today.

Jax - How did the Scala's sound with the Devaliet? Or did you just hear the Grand Utopia III? Focal is coming to Vancouver so I'll have a chance to finally heard the Grand Utopia EM (III), but powered by Bryston 28BSST2's, etc.

I just heard the Focal Utopias. My seating position wasn't really ideal - along the back well - as the choice seats for taken for the particular demonstration I was attending.

I'm definitely going back again, I really liked the store.

Thanks, Jax,

I love the look of the Utopia III series, the Scala Utopia particularly. Also of the previous series, the Grand Utopia:

which would fit right in my present decor.

Of the new (III) Utopia series, I think the white colour is abosolutely stunning. Have only had a chance to listen to the Scala and Diablo briefly, on Bryston 28BSST2 amps, but will get to hear the Grand Utopia III soon, which should offer much better bass response, which I am looking for.

There's a nice dealer in California with quite a few interesting speakers including the full Utopia line, so I'll go for a visit to make the final purchase. Would rather hear a full system with everything the way I'd like, than piece together things.

What was the amplifier configuration used with the Utopias your heard? DMA 360 x2 x4?

Cheers!

Unfortunately, I don't recall the exact model of Spectrals that were in use. I was unfamiliar with the line and enjoyed hearing the owner, Terry, talk about the company. I spent some time gazing at the beautiful Basis turntables which weren't in use for the demo. They looked astonishing.

I do recall they were Spectral monoblocks. Also in use was a Spectral preamp & CD player. MIT cabling was used throughout (it seems that networked cables are a good match with Spectral based on comments I've read elsewhere).
