According to a company press release, digital projector company Optoma will begin shipping its tiny Pico PK-101 projector on Dec. 15.
The release continues by saying that the Pico weighs just 4 oz. and measures 2x4.1x0.7 inches, or roughly the size of a cell phone. The Pico is designed for use with an iPod or smartphone and connects via a 2.5mm composite mini-jack.
The release goes on to say that the Pico features Texas Instruments’s DLP Pico digital micro-mirror device and an LED light source to create an image with a 1,000:1 contrast ratio and 480x320 native resolution. The company claims that the Pico has the ability to project images up to 100 times the size of the screen of the source device.
The release adds that the Pico has an internal battery that lasts for up to 90 minutes on a single charge; it can be recharged using the included mini USB cable.
