I bought an Onkyo AVR last year because it handled HDMI 1.3 and my old Sony ES AVR only handled HDMI 1.1. I will NOT be conned into buying another AVR unless these are made easily upgradeable with firmware updates. F---3-D; have some respect for consumers.

I'm with you on this. Industry and the merchandising/newspaper business will sooner than later feel the drop in sales volumes due to the fact that most customers will not be willing to subsidise jobs and earnings from "clever" people bringing to market new technology in a piece-meal way, not assuring a sound/sane life expectancy for a recently bought top-of-the-line AV equipment...
